Know Your 'D'

Skin Cancer Away!!! Really?
Based on the latest two (2) research reviews published in Annals of Internal Medicine, Vitamin D’s benefits may have been a tad bit overhyped.  Are we surprised?

According to the reviews, which scoured over hundreds of previous studies on Vitamin D, there’s not much evidence supporting the claim that Vitamin D can protect individuals popping it against cancer or heart disease.

The Debate
Although Vitamin D taken with Calcium seems to assist in the prevention of broken bones in the elderly, there is no supporting evidence that suggests Vitamin D prevents fractures when consumed on its own.

Blame it on over enthusiastic consumers or the really good marketers at whichever pharmaceutical agency who thought it out…whomever it is, the verdict is somewhat out.  Vitamin D is not what it's cracked out to be...but, no worries.  Something revolutionary will come up soon, right :D

Hope that helps.

*Note: I’m still gonna go ahead and continue my regime of calcium+vitamin D intake (hey, I'm getting older).  And please don’ t shoot the messenger…after all, sharing is caring!
